Choosing adapters and hubs
Adapters are how cross-brand builds happen. Quick-release adapters mount one ecosystem's wheel on another ecosystem's base. Wheel hubs give a universal 50.8/70 mm bolt-pattern rim — including real steering wheels — a home on a branded base. USB conversions run base-connected pedals or shifters straight into a PC, freeing good hardware from the wheelbase it shipped with.
Read both sides of the spec: the device side is the brand of the wheel or pedals you own, the base side is the wheelbase it needs to meet. On high-torque direct drive bases, confirm a quick-release adapter is rated for the torque involved — any flex or slop at the QR arrives directly in your hands as lost detail.
You rarely need to work this out yourself: pick parts from different ecosystems in the builder and it flags whether an adapter in this catalog resolves the conflict. TrophySim handles adapter fitting on every cross-brand install.
